Giuseppe Guarneri, is known as 'filius Andreae' to distinguish him from his son Giuseppe “Del Gesu”. He inherited his father’s shop in 1698 and immediately started running the business into the ground. His relationship with his son was a complicated thing indeed and their story can be seen in the instruments of both these men if you know how and where to look.
